The Monkey Forest sits at the southern end of Ubud's centre, a few minutes from the Palace, the art market and the restaurants along Jalan Hanoman. Staying nearby is the easiest way to do Ubud: temple mornings, a swim through the heat of the day, dinner in town, home before the roads get dark.
Be careful with the phrase "walking distance", though. Hotels on the strip can claim it; a private villa almost never can, because the quiet that makes a villa worth taking only exists off the main road. Every villa below is a short ride, not a short walk — around ten minutes by scooter or Grab, down lanes where you wake to roosters rather than traffic. We would rather say that plainly than sell you a walk you would not enjoy in Bali's heat.
