The arrival is straightforward by Ubud standards: the lane is wide enough for a car, parking is on premises, and host I Nyoman Suardika or one of the team is there to meet you with a chilled young coconut and walk you through how things work. Because the build is new, everything from the AC fan blades to the pool tile grout still looks unused, and the jungle outside the gate hasn't yet been groomed into something fake. It's a genuine slice of Kedewatan valley with the birds, butterflies and gecko soundtrack still intact.

The single ensuite bedroom is the heart of the villa: a king bed dressed in fresh linens, a wardrobe with hangers, an in-room safe, an iron, room-darkening shades and a TV, with AC that runs quiet enough to sleep through. The bathroom adds a deep bathtub, hair dryer, full toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body soap, shower gel) and hot water that arrives quickly. Sanggingan's cafe row (Sangsaka, Locavore To Go) is about 5 minutes away.
