Bima Villa

Bima Villa is a 2-bedroom private villa in Gianyar, Ubud, with a 3.5×7 m pool, 100 Mbps WiFi, and a fully equipped kitchen, sleeping up to 4 guests.

The first thing you should know is that Bima takes a moment to find. Almost every review opens with this and they all say the same thing. The Google Maps pin is roughly correct but the actual entrance is down a narrow gang between local family compounds, and our host Nyoman will meet you at the road to walk you in. Once you're through the gate the path opens into a garden, his wife Yuli or one of the team hands you a cold coconut sliced at the top, and the chaos of getting here resets to zero. It's a working banjar, not a tourist enclave: neighbours pray at the morning offering shrine, a rooster crows at dawn, distant temple bells drift in once or twice a week, and that's the entire point of choosing Bima over a hotel on the main road.

There are two ensuite bedrooms, one with a king bed, one with a double, each in its own pavilion, each with AC, a wardrobe with hangers, a dressing area and a separate bathroom with toilet, shower, hot water and toiletries. The rooms are bigger than the photos suggest (a Vakhid review specifically called them out as 'large') and the room-darkening shades work, which matters if the roosters do their thing earlier than you planned to wake up. The kitchen is set up for genuine self-catering: a stove with full-size fridge and freezer, kettle, toaster, dishes and silverware, pots and pans, oil and salt and pepper already on the counter, enough to cook breakfast or a full dinner properly. A dining table sits next to the kitchen, and the open layout means meals usually drift outside onto the BBQ pavilion next to the pool.

The 3.5×7 m private pool is the centrepiece. Sunbeds along the side, a BBQ grill within reach, the garden draped around the edges: pool is private, open all day, and at 3.5 metres wide it's wide enough to do an actual swim rather than just dip and turn. On a hot Ubud afternoon this is where the day collapses into something slower. We can have warung-style breakfast delivered to the deck or arrange a floating breakfast tray if you message ahead.

The location is technically Gianyar regency but functionally Ubud: seven minutes by Grab to Ubud Palace and the Saturday market, ten minutes to the Monkey Forest, fifteen minutes north to the Tegalalang Rice Terraces, and fifteen minutes west to the Campuhan Ridge Walk. Several past guests have noted there are 'a couple of lovely restaurants in walking distance' once you're back on the main road; for delivery, Grab and Gojek both work from the villa without issues and the local cafes know the address. Honest notes: this is a quieter, more remote pocket than the central Ubud villas, so plan for a scooter or rely on Grab. The road in is narrow and not really walkable to anything except those nearest warungs. We rent scooters on site through a trusted local shop. Insects (geckos especially, and the occasional ant near the open kitchen) are a fact of jungle-edge Bali. They don't bother most guests, but if you're insect-shy bring your spray.

Bima suits couples wanting a quieter pace than central Ubud, two-couple groups, or families with one or two older kids. The king-and-double layout is genuinely flexible. It's also a strong remote-work fit at the 100 Mbps WiFi tier with the wardrobe doubling as a setup space.
